Fast Train Concept Station
YHT Fast Train Station Concept Proposal
Eskisehir/ Turkiye
2010
The concept proposal for a new main train station for fast trains between Ankara-Istanbul. The goal for the design is to keep the existing monumental old station building from the early Turkish modern architecture.
The entrance is through the old building main hall and a connecting glass bridge. The design tried to match the flow of the motion of the fast train. A light weight roof with glazed facade with skylights above to let natural light inside as much as possible. The mass kept itself as simple and as clear as possible so that the building will not disturb the crowd and will move with them instead of blocking the motion.
